Join an Orchestra
The Hawke's Bay Orchestral Society provides the community
of Hawke's Bay
with opportunities to learn an instrument and to play
together in
orchestras. If you want to learn an instrument or be
part of an orchestra and have fun making music in a
supportive group check out how to
join.

Want to play in an orchestra?
The Hawkes Bay Orchestral Society runs two orchestras
- a Training Orchestra for students with two or
three years playing experience (generally Grade
2 level or equivalent) and the Hawkes Bay Youth
Orchestra for older students with more musical
experience (generally Grade 5 level or equivalent).
Most of our orchestra members
are aged between 8 and 18. String and wind instrument
players plus percussionists are welcome.
Many of our members started
out learning an instrument
with us before joining one of our orchestras.
Currently about 15 children are learning to play
the violin and 20 children are learning flute.
